The government plans to promote and support policies with a sense of speed so that the’Free Economic Zone Innovation Strategy 2.0′ announced in October last year to make the Free Economic Zone a base for a new global industry.
① (Expanding incentives) By selecting core strategic industries for each free economic zone, sales of less than the construction cost, private contracts allowed, and local investment subsidy support ratio are preferred to foreign-invested companies as well as domestic residents.
② (Innovative Growth Support) In addition to the construction of infrastructure such as access roads and water supply facilities necessary for the development of the Free Economic Zone, a new innovative growth support program for tenant companies is also established. (Total project cost 4.2 billion won)
③ (Regulatory Innovation) This includes regulatory innovation tasks, discovering participating companies, and supporting empirical special cases so that the Free Economic Zone can become a regulatory innovation institution and promote investment in new industries.
The Ministry of Industry, in particular, in relation to the hydrogen-leading cities pursued by the Ulsan Free Economic Zone, plans to create a hydrogen economy ecosystem by designating a hydrogen specialized company and expanding green hydrogen demonstrations in accordance with the implementation of the ｢Hydrogen Act｣ starting from February this year.
The Ulsan Free Economic Zone Authority held the’Ulsan Free Economic Zone Innovation Ecosystem Construction Business Agreement Ceremony’ on the occasion of the opening ceremony.
The heads of eight organizations, including the Ministry of Industry (Gyeonggi-do) and UNIST, participated in the agreement ceremony to jointly endeavor to attract leading companies in the hydrogen industry and strengthen corporate support.
After the opening ceremony, the Minister visited the’Hydrogen Fuel Cell Demonstration Center’, encouraged researchers, and had time to listen to the difficulties of the site and the opinions of the tenant companies.
