A delivery driver who took a child who had crashed on the 12th floor of a building in Hanoi, Vietnam with his bare hands, emerged as a “national hero” locally.
On the 2nd (local time), according to the British Guardian and local media, on the 28th of last month, Nguyen Ngoc Man, 31, sat in a vehicle for a moment to deliver, and heard the cry of a child. It was with a woman’s urgent scream.
He looked out of the window and caught him in the eyes of a child hanging dangerously at a height of about 50m above the ground. In an urgent situation, the residents of the building across the street were rolling their feet and shouting for help. He got out of the car and ran under the building where the child was hanging.
The child, whose arm was weak, eventually fell down. But only right before he crashed to the ground, he picked up the child. He told the local media, “Thank you for having the child fell to my lap and I was able to pick it up.”
The two-year-old child who was miraculously rescued was immediately taken to the National Children’s Hospital. He said that he had dislocated symptoms on part of his body, but there were no major injuries.
The heroic behavior of the delivery driver was quickly known through social media. Pictures depicting him as Superman were also spread on Facebook. On the 2nd, he received a commendation from the Prime Minister of Vietnam.
In an interview with the local media on the 2nd, he said, “I’m also the father of a child,” and “if I was a father, anyone would have acted like me in that situation.”
At the same time, many people said they were surprised to hear that they would send gifts and sponsorships from various organizations. “My Facebook posts usually only have dozens of comments, but now I get tens of thousands of comments,” he laughed.
However, he said he declined the pouring out of donations and sponsorship offers.
“I’m not a hero,” he said. “I just want to continue working on delivery and continue my normal life helping my wife whenever I have a spare time.”
