Two years of labor-management temporary agreement with Hyundai-China Guaranteed employment this year

On the 3rd, the labor and management of Hyundai Heavy Industries came up with a provisional agreement with two-year wages for 2019 and 2020.

Labor and management announced that they had come up with a provisional agreement after long-term negotiations at the Ulsan headquarters.

The provisional agreement is to raise wages by 46,000 won in 2019 (including 23,000 won for a salary increase), 218% incentives, 100% incentives + 1.5 million won, and 300,000 won in welfare points.

In relation to the labor union agreement in 2020, the basic wage was frozen (a flat rate of 23,000 won for the increase in salary), 131% incentives, 2.3 million won for labor-management harmony encouragement, and 300,000 won for regional economy gift certificates.

Regarding disciplinary measures related to corporate division (material division), which was the biggest issue, the union withdrew requests for unfair dismissal and disciplinary relief (a total of 1415 persons) filed against the company to the Labor Relations Committee, and the company was subject to disciplinary action excluding 4 dismissals. It was decided not to apply incentives and annual/monthly difference reduction rates.

The company decided to re-enter the three dismissed persons (Jong-hak Jang, Do-kyung Kim, and Ahn Jung-kwon) according to separate procedures (promise to prevent recurrence, etc.). The other, dismissed Lee Chang-heon, decided to discuss at a later negotiation.

In addition, the labor and management decided to withdraw various complaints, accusations and lawsuits for damages filed by both sides.

After the labor and management dispute over the general shareholders’ meeting for the division of the company in May 2019, the dispute over the issue of the dismissal, the disciplinary person on strike, and the issue of compensation for damages caused by the damage of the shareholders, a provisional agreement was made in 1 year and 9 months. If this provisional agreement is passed in the votes for and against all members held on the 5th, the final agreement is concluded.
