Broadcasting industry officials and elementary school teachers who had a large-capacity server in the house and shared 64,000 movies, dramas, and sound sources were handed over to trial.
On the 9th, the Suwon District Prosecutors’ Office of Defense Project·Industrial Technology Crime Criminal (Prosecutor Lee Chun) prosecuted broadcasting industry officials A (46) and elementary school teachers B (41) without custody on charges of violating the copyright law.
From December 2014 to August of last year, Mr. A has 48,868 works (21TB in capacity, 8322157 files), and Mr. B has 16,027 works from December 2017 to August last year (capacity 28TB). 500,000,988 files) are being accused of sharing so that other members can download it.

The videos they shared included famous movies such as’Avengers’,’Justice League’, and’Joker’, as well as domestic movies, dramas, music, and broadcast content. It has also been confirmed that there are some adult material. However, the prosecution said there were no videos of sexual crimes such as children appearing or sexual exploitation.

As a result of the prosecution’s investigation, they were suggested to manage and operate shared servers through IRC (Internet Relay Chat: an international chat service). Mr. A and Mr. B said that they accepted the server management and operation with the idea that “you can share the latest movies before others.”
They managed the members by accessing the server and giving the member who posted the work a score appropriate for it, and allowing them to download more capacity. They also used floating IPs that periodically change their IP addresses to outrun investigations.
