The results of the impeachment trial by former President Donald Trump could be released as early as Saturday, the 13th local time.
According to Politico and others on the 12th, David Shoan, one of Trump’s lawyers, met with reporters and said, “The trial is proceeding faster than expected,” and “The Senate’s impeachment process may be finished on the 13th.”

“You could only spend 3-4 hours out of 16 hours of pleading”

The shortest period of all previous US presidential impeachment trials

Earlier, Shoan requested that the impeachment trial be suspended from Friday to Sunday in order to keep the Sabbath, and then withdrew it. Meanwhile, out of the 16 hours given to them, they could only use 3-4 hours.
Because of this, it is predicted that the result of the impeachment trial, which was expected to be delayed until the 16th, may be pulled to the 13th.
House impeachment prosecutors, who act as prosecutors in the impeachment trial, made a statement about Trump’s allegations of inciting civil war for two days this week. Now it’s time for Mr. Trump to speak. If the pleadings are completed within 4 hours, the Democratic and Republican senators each question for 2 hours, and then the final pleadings of both sides of the impeachment prosecutor and Mr. Trump go into the ballot. If both sides don’t specifically call witnesses or not, the whole process can be finished within this weekend.
Trump’s first impeachment trial for the 2019 Ukrainian scandal was held for 21 days. Former President Bill Clinton was judged on the 37th and Andrew Johnson was judged for 83 days.
The New York Times (NYT) said, “If a final vote on the impeachment of former President Trump is held on Saturday, it will be the fastest judgment on the impeachment of the president in US history.”
Earlier on the 9th, in a pre-voting debate asking whether the impeachment promotion violates the constitution, the Trump lawyer side made a laugh by making a gibberish argument. Attorney Bruce Caster talked about a wide range of stories ranging from democracy in ancient Greece to the personality of the US Senate, and he was criticized for not being able to defend against the attacks of the prosecutors who had been thoroughly prepared for escape from the issue.
It is predominantly that Trump’s shortening of the last pleadings will not affect the results significantly. As there were only six Republican senators who voted that the impeachment promotion was constitutional, it is analyzed that it would be difficult for the 17 people to leave the votes necessary for the decision to guilty of impeachment.
