Trump’s average approval rating for tenure among past US presidents

US President Donald Trump recorded an average approval rating of 41.1% during his tenure, the lowest among all presidents.

On the 19th (local time), according to the US economic journal Fortune, etc., public opinion polling agency Gallup released the results of the survey. From the 4th to the 15th, Gallup conducted a poll on 1023 men and women through telephone interviews. The sampling error is ±4%P with a 95% confidence level.

President Trump’s incumbent approval rating is 41.1%, the lowest since Gallup started the presidential approval rating since 1938. The lowest record before Trump was 45.4% of former President Harry Truman, and the highest was 70.1% of former President John F. Kennedy.

In the last poll before retirement, it was 34%, the second lowest ever since Truman (32%). However, in the case of former President Richard Nixon, he resigned in the middle of the case of’Watergate’ and was excluded from comparison, and the approval rate right before he had to go was 24%.

Gallup also cited extreme political polarization in Trump’s approval rating. During President Trump’s tenure, Republicans’ approval rating was 88%, and Democrats’ approval rating was 7%. “The gap in party approval ratings for Trump was the largest ever,” Gallup said.
