According to foreign media, the US Congressional Police said on the 3rd that “we got information showing a conspiracy to invade the Capitol on the 4th by a group of confirmed militias,” and that it has strengthened congressional security. They then explained that they installed structures around the capitol to build perimeter and increase manpower, and implemented security upgrades in cooperation with government partners. The threat came about two months after thousands of Trump supporters raided the Capitol on January 6th.

Theorists of the US far-right conspiracy group “Curenan” believe that former President Trump will return as president on the 4th, CNN said. The presidential inauguration date originally set by the US Congress was March 4, but it was changed to January 20 in accordance with Article 20 of the Amendment, ratified in 1933. Between 1793 and 1933, inauguration ceremonies were often held on or around March 4th.

In this situation, the House of Representatives decided to shorten the schedule it had originally set up to the 4th. It was in response to a warning from the authorities that the intrusion to the Capitol could be rekindled. The House of Representatives was scheduled to deal with a police reform bill triggered by the case of George Floyd, a black man who was strangled by a white policeman on the 4th, but the schedule was pulled to the evening of the 3rd. About 300 participants have been prosecuted so far in connection with the intrusion to the Capitol Hill. Five people, including the congressional police, were killed in this incident.
