Trump impeachment advocates resign

[아시아경제 우수연 기자]On the 31st (local time), CNN reported that all five lawyers appointed by former US President Donald Trump for impeachment of the Senate have resigned.

According to CNN, former President Trump recently formed a group of five lawyers to respond to the Senate impeachment trial, but all of them have announced their intention to resign.

The lawyers for the Trump impeachment trial were led by South Carolina-based lawyer Butch Bowers.

CNN quoted one source, saying that Bowers is no longer working on the Trump Impeachment Legal Team, and that Debera Barbie, a recent federal prosecutor, has also resigned. The remaining three lawyers are also reported to have left Trump’s impeachment response legal team.

It is known that the reason why all five lawyers resigned was due to their disagreement with Trump. The lawyers tried to focus on determining the legal validity of the referral for impeachment after the President’s retirement, but Trump is said to have wanted to continue pushing the allegation of’presidental fraud’.

The US Senate began preparing for an impeachment judgment against former President Trump on the 26th, and the judgment on the proposal for impeachment will begin on the 9th of next month.
