US President Donald Trump, with less than two weeks left in office, is on the verge of impeachment after supporters invade the Capitol. The opposition Democratic Party is planning to propose an impeachment bill as early as the 11th (local time).

On the 8th, the US internet media Axios quoted various sources in the Democratic Party, saying, “The Democratic House of Representatives discussed plans to promote the impeachment of President Trump at the conference call.”

Sources reported that the Democratic Party proposed an impeachment bill on the 11th and decided to schedule a vote in the early and mid-next week.

At the meeting that day, Congressman Jim Cleburn, House Secretary of the House of Representatives, urged “the impeachment bill must be promoted within next week.” Then, House Intelligence Commissioner Adam Schiff, who led the Trump impeachment investigation in 2019, also formed a consensus saying, “The party must move urgently.”

Democratic Party lawmakers have already finished drafting the impeachment bill, the US CNN broadcast said. President Trump was charged with inciting a revolt against the US government.

In their draft, Democrats said, “President Trump participated in felony and misdemeanor crimes by deliberately inciting violence against the US government.”

If the Democratic Party promotes impeachment, it will be prosecuted for the second time following the end of 2019. “No president in history has been impeached twice. President Trump is now facing a very realistic prospect, with only 12 days left in office,” Axios said.

However, it is unlikely that the impeachment bill will pass through the Senate wall. It is because more than half of Republican lawmakers are against it, and Vice President Mike Pence, who holds the casting boat, is also known to be in a negative position on the impeachment.

Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said on the day that “impeaching the President with 12 days left will only divide our country further.” Rep. Roy Blunt, the Republican Senate leadership, also criticized it as “a ridiculous debate,” and “even if there is a reason, there is no time for that.”

Nevertheless, the Democratic Party’s pursuit of impeachment is because if it passes the House of Representatives, the road to rerun in 2024 could be blocked, Axios explained. Also, the number of Republicans who have turned to Senator Ben Sase and others are increasing.

President Trump said on Twitter the previous day, “The first of the greatest presidents of all time has ended. It is just the beginning of the fight to make the United States great again.”
