Train derailment accident occurred in Taiwan… At least 36 deaths (total)

[아시아경제 권재희 기자] In eastern Taiwan, a train derailed inside a tunnel, killing at least 36 people.

According to local media such as Taiwan TVBS on the 2nd, the Taiwanese fire department said that the Tairuger 408 train departing from Surin in New Taipei City in northern Taiwan to Taitung at 9 am on the day left the track inside the Hualien Daqingshui Tunnel.

Major foreign media reported that at least 36 people died in the accident, and the number of deaths in the harvest is expected to increase further.

Initially, Taiwanese media reported that 4 passengers were killed, 3 were seriously injured, and 20 minor injured in the accident.

An accident occurred when the train collided with a vehicle under construction in the tunnel.

It was estimated that a total of 350 people boarded the train with a total of 8 cars. In the 1~4 car, 80~100 passengers were evacuated, while the 5~8 car was crushed in an accident, making it difficult to rescue.

Authorities, including the Hualien Fire Department and the police, who are working on the accident site, said they are trying to access four badly damaged train cars inside the tunnel.
