Jeju is considered one of the most visited areas for tourists, with only 81 confirmed cases from February to last month, when the first corona19 was confirmed. In particular, more than 1 million tourists visited last October for a month, and group tours gradually revived in November, showing that Jeju tourism is recovering to levels before Corona 19. Due to this, the rental car reservation rate was close to 100%.

However, as the spread of Corona 19 in Jeju and other countries intensified this month, the rental car utilization rate was confirmed to be around 40%.

Also, according to the province, there was no rental of an 11-seater van, which is frequently used by golf tourists during the Christmas holidays, and the reservation rate for accommodation in the province was found to be around 30% on average.

The area around Hamdeok Beach in Jocheon-eup, Jeju-si and Handam Beach in Aewol-eup, where it was difficult for cars to enter, also showed a relaxed appearance due to a sharp drop in tourists. Hallasan and Seongsan Ilchulbong, famous for sunrise, and Suwolbong, Hangyeong-myeon, Jeju-si, have been closed early since the 24th.

An official from Jeju-do said, “To curb the momentum of re-proliferation of Corona 19, we are working hard to strengthen quarantine by setting a special quarantine period from the last 24 to January 3, and conducting special inspections. For the sake of this, I asked you to actively participate in social distancing during the year-end and New Year holidays.”

As of 0 o’clock on the 26th, there were a total of 374 cases of corona 19 in Jeju.
