The pitching coach praised Ryu Hyun-jin (34), ace of the Toronto Blue Jays in the US professional baseball major league.

Toronto pitching coach Pete Walker said in a video interview on the morning of the 22nd (Korean time), “Ryu Hyun-jin’s condition is better than at this time of last year.”

Ryu Hyun-jin, who returned to Korea in October last year, rested for about a month and started building up in earnest for 2021 from November. The major league, which was shortened by 60 games last year, will return to 162 games this year. Hyun-jin Ryu digested more training than usual. Ryu Hyun-jin improved his physical condition through weight training at the sports rehabilitation center in November, and moved to Seogwipo, Jeju-do on January 7th to conduct pitching training such as a 70m catch ball for two weeks. Hyunjin Ryu returned to the United States on February 3.

Upon arriving in the United States, Ryu Hyun-jin moved to the team’s Spring Camp facility in Dunedin, Florida.

On the 19th, Hyunjin Ryu played a bullpen pitching in the first day of training in the pitcher and catcher tank. Ryu Hyun-jin, who threw 50 balls, said, “I threw all the balls I can throw and I am in good shape.”

Coach Walker said, “(Toronto Spring Camp’s first year) Ryu Hyun-jin is feeling much more comfortable than last year,” and said, “I raised the pitching pace enough to throw 50 balls out of the bullpen.”

On the other hand, Toronto convened a pitcher and catcher on the 18th, and the inside and outfielders join on the 23rd. Toronto will play 28 demonstration matches starting March 1st against the New York Yankees and until March 31st.

Toronto will use Dunedin’s TD Ball Park as a new home ground for the regular league until Canada’s new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) quarantine guidelines are eased this year.
