On that day, around 9 am, Hashimoto, chairman of the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games Organizing Committee and Tokyo Governor Koike, attended the torch departure ceremony at J Village. Prime Minister Suga did not attend to prevent the spread of Corona 19. The first runners of the torch relay were members of the Japanese national team who won the 2011 Women’s Soccer World Cup during the Great East Japan Earthquake.
The torch relay is held for 121 days until July 23, when the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics is held. About 10,000 runners run 47 metropolitan governments across Japan.

The event organizers decided to skip the passage of the place and move on to the next place if there is a crowded situation on the street due to crowds trying to see the torch. The organizing committee recommends viewing the torch relay as a live Internet broadcast to prevent the spread of Corona 19.
