A 3-year-old girl found several months after her death in a villa in Gumi, Gyeongbuk. While neglected for a long period of time, the body turned into a mummy, while his mother, A, in her twenties, did not visit. Mr. A stated that “I didn’t want to see him as my ex-husband child,” as to why the police left the child.

According to the Gumi Police Station on the 14th, his mother A, who is investigating arrest for murder, stated in the course of the investigation that “I broke up with my father a long time ago and left it in the villa because it was difficult to raise a child alone.” In addition, the police explained that “it has been a long time since I lost contact with my father and it was difficult financially in the process of raising a child.”

According to the police investigation, Mr. A moved to the vicinity of the villa where he originally lived about six months ago, in August of last year. In the process, he left the child alone. At the same time, until recently, the local government paid 200,000 won for child-rearing and child allowances. There was also a situation where Mr. A was cheated as if living with a daughter who died by his family. It was found that Mr. A remarried another man and had a child between the two.

The child who died was found by his maternal grandfather living on the lower floor of A’s villa in Sangmosagok-dong, Gumi-si, around 3 pm on the 10th. The mother-in-law, who visited her daughter’s house after receiving a call from the landlord asking her to leave the house due to the expiration of the contract, found the body of the child who was left alone and reported it to the police. The body was difficult to recognize. At the time of discovery, the house was not heated and the surrounding area was said to be full of garbage.

Upon receiving the report, the police arrested A, who lived with the dead girl, on the same day, and arrested him for murder on the 12th. On that day, Mr. A, who was interrogated before arrest (substantial warrant examination), did not answer any questions from reporters asking about the motive of the crime.

The police are focusing their investigative power on proving Mr. A’s murder charge. A police official said, “We are investigating various possibilities, such as whether the mother killed the child and abandoned the body, whether it was left alone at home, or left the body of a dead child elsewhere in the villa.” It will also investigate whether Mr. A abused his deceased daughter in life.

The police believe that even if the daughter was alive at the time Mr. A moved, the murder charge could be applied just by leaving a 3-year-old girl at home alone in need of parental care.

The National Institute of Scientific Investigation went into an autopsy to determine the cause of the death of a girl who died on the 11th, and the results will come out on the 18th to the 21st.
