Three days in the spring rain, splitting, YouTube, vehicle rally instead of a large rally

On the 1st at 1:30 pm, the representative of the Republic of Korea, Cho Won-jin, appeared in the video of a mobile electronic display in front of the main branch of Shinsegae Department Store in Jung-gu, Seoul. In the video, CEO Cho said, “Stop the false regime. I hope that President Park Geun-hye will return to the people as soon as possible.” When the video was over, CEO Cho, with an umbrella and Taegeukgi, appeared again in front of the billboard with eight party members and read the press conference.

A fence installed by the police was enclosed in a 3m radius around them. Dozens of citizens with Taegeukgi stood around the fence and across the street to watch the assembly. The unique scene of the event held in the rain is the result of the court and the police refusing to allow large-scale assemblies of 10 or more people. According to the Republic of Korea, the press conference read by CEO Cho was simultaneously released at 130 locations in 25 districts in Seoul.

Some citizens with the Taegeukgi had a joke with the police on this day, saying, “Why can’t I do the rally as I want?” In response, other citizens said, “We have to hold a meeting while keeping the quarantine rules.”

‘Split Rally’ because you can’t do a large gathering

In this March 1st, there were no large-scale gatherings in the downtown area. This is because the police and the Seoul Metropolitan Government have announced a policy of’we will strictly respond to illegal large gatherings’. Unlike last year’s Liberation Day, there were no protesters trying to forcefully enter Gwanghwamun Square. Some meetings were canceled due to the spring rain.

However, gatherings and press conferences of less than 9 people were held everywhere. Free Democratic People’s Action, a conservative group, held a press conference at 11 am in front of the main gate of Sejong Center in Gwanghwamun, Seoul. Six people including Kook-jae, CEO of Pen & Microphone, held a press conference for 30 minutes and then disbanded. Earlier, at 9 am on the same day, 9 people from the People’s Democratic Party (Democratic Party) held a rally at Gwanghwamun Square, insisting that the spirit of the March 1 Struggle succeeded and the abolition of the Security Law.

At 11 am, the Emergency National Regiment departed from Independence Gate in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul using nine black vans, hung a placard for’overthrow the government’, and carried out a demonstration in a line to the Supreme Court in Seocho-gu, Seoul.

“Ensure freedom of assembly”

Some conservative groups have protested the government’s policy to reduce assembly. Freedom of the Republic of Korea, which held a press conference in front of Gyeongbokgung Palace at 11 am, said, “I think the purpose of the infectious disease prevention method is legitimate, but we are questioning the complete blocking of assemblies in major downtown areas in Seoul.” It’s a right you have to enjoy.”

As of the 28th, the police issued a ban on 102 cases that could violate the quarantine regulations, including more than 9 out of 1670 reported assemblies in the Seoul area.

The Free Korea Corps canceled the 20-member assembly, which was approved by the court through an application for temporary injunction to suspend execution. The organizers said, “This is because the condition of’all participants must bring an audio result sheet’ proposed by the court could not be observed within a short period of time.”
