This year’s military service judgment test, which changed the standards drastically, starts tomorrow (17th).

On the 16th, the Military Manpower Administration announced that the 2021 military service judgment test will be conducted from the 17th to November 30th.

The biggest change to this year’s military service judgment test is the abolition of the standard for military service disposition based on educational background. Those with a physical level of 1 to 3 are eligible for active duty service regardless of their educational background.

The probability of receiving active duty judgment on the physical examination also increased. According to the revised’Test Rules for Military Service Determination, Physical Examination, etc.’, the BMI’s level 4 criterion was changed from’under 17 33 or more’ to’less than 16 and 35 or more.

In the case of 175cm tall, the standard of overweight equivalent to 4th grade has risen from 102kg to 108kg. The underweight criterion went down from 52kg to 48kg.

Vision standards have also changed. Until last year, myopia -11 diopters (D) or less and farsightedness +4D or more were rated 4th grade, but this year, they adjusted to -13D or less and +6D or more, respectively.

Level 4 criteria for people with tattoos were also abolished. For this reason, even if you have tattoos such as dragons, carp, and snakes all over your body, you must enlist in active duty.

However, regarding mental illness, the criteria for determining active duty have been strengthened. Previously, it was necessary to enlist in active duty’if there are few social and occupational dysfunctions even though there are current symptoms’, but from this year, active duty enlistment is only possible if’there are no current symptoms or only some minor symptoms’.

The Military Manpower Administration explained, “From this year, a new cognitive ability test will be introduced and a psychological test will be conducted,” and “I expect that the screening ability of those with intellectual disabilities such as borderline intelligence and intellectual disability will improve.”
