President Moon Jae-in has decided not to hold family gatherings this New Year’s Day according to the quarantine guidelines.

Today (9th) Cheong Wa Dae spokesman Kang Min-seok said in a briefing, “On New Year’s Day this year, President Moon decided not to go to the sister-in-law in Yangsan, Gyeongnam, but to stay at the Blue House.

He added, “The aim is to abide by the guidelines prohibiting gatherings of more than 5 people,” he added. “There will be no separate family gatherings at the official residence.”

First of all, we will visit the traditional market on the 10th, the day before the Lunar New Year holidays.

President Moon plans to deliver a message of encouragement to merchants while looking at people’s livelihood.

On the 11th, we plan to make a video call with 8 people, including New Zealand Father Ahn Kwang-hoon (real name Brannan Robert John) and Ji So-yeon soccer player (Chelsea FC Women).

The Blue House said, “Through video calls, we plan to convey our consolation and gratitude to the people who have endured the difficult times of Corona 19,” and said, “We will have a sincere conversation as we wish for a year of recovery, engagement, and leap forward as the New Year’s Day.”

He explained, “I decided that the voices of each of the eight people could be a message to the people.”

On the 12th, the last day of the Lunar New Year, a video of President Moon’s greetings to the public will be released.

President Moon posted a greeting video for Chuseok through social media (SNS) last year.

Meanwhile, the quarantine authorities extended the ban on private gatherings with 5 or more people, including immediate family members, until the 14th of this month when the Lunar New Year holiday ends on the 6th.
