Ministry of Agriculture and Food ‘2021 Republic of Korea, Let’s Go Farm’ Double Budget
20% immediate discount at mart, 30% discount at traditional markets and eco-friendly stores

In order to promote the consumption of agricultural and livestock products, which was contracted by Corona 19, the government is supporting a’consumption coupon’ by nearly doubling the budget this year following last year.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (Minister Kim Hyeon-su, hereinafter the Ministry of Agriculture and Food) announced on the 6th that it will be launching a nationwide discount event for agricultural and livestock products from January 28th to meet the upcoming New Year holidays.
This discount event has been allocated a budget of 76 billion won, which is twice as much as last year (40 billion won). It is implemented throughout the year until the budget is exhausted and provided to consumers. Like last year, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food is planning to conduct discount events this year in connection with various distribution channels such as large and small and medium-sized marts, online shopping malls, eco-friendly stores, local food stores, and traditional markets.
During the event, a 20% discount is applied when purchasing fresh agricultural and livestock products and processed agricultural and livestock products that have been granted a food name and geographical indication system certification. Agricultural and livestock products sold in traditional markets are discounted by 30%.
However, the method of providing discounts for each channel is somewhat different. Marts equipped with POS (Sales Information Management System) devices receive a 20% discount immediately upon checkout, and online shopping malls provide members with a 2,000 won discount coupon per 10,000 won.
If it is difficult to apply a discount right away, such as an eco-friendly store, a local food store, or a traditional market, discount vouchers are provided after product purchase or member mileage is accumulated and discounted at the next purchase. Discounts are also applied to Zero Pay affiliates nationwide. If you purchase agricultural and livestock products at affiliated stores, you can receive 20% of the payment amount (30% in the traditional market) as a mobile Zero Pay gift certificate.
Instead, the maximum discount applied for each event is limited to a limit of 10,000 won per person.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Food announced that it will support discount events step by step in consideration of the period when the consumption promotion effect is high such as holidays and the off-season, and that some items that require consumption promotion will be held as a special discount event.
An official from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food said, “We hope that this discount event will support the expansion of agricultural and livestock products, which are difficult due to the prolonged Corona 19, and provide an opportunity for consumers to purchase agricultural and livestock products at low prices.”
