They shout out for nuclear power plant inside and export nuclear power plant outside…

Ministry of Industry advisory committee launched…

The collapse of the domestic nuclear power plant ecosystem, questioning the effectiveness

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy will support the export of nuclear power plants. This is due to the fact that orders for overseas nuclear power plants such as the Czech Republic are becoming visible, and the interest in overseas markets for small and medium-sized nuclear power plants has increased. However, it is pointed out that the expansion of nuclear power plant exports will reveal its limits while the construction of new nuclear power plants is abolished by the policy of post-nuclear power generation in Korea.

The Ministry of Industry announced on the 4th that it has officially launched the’Nuclear Power Export Advisory Committee’. As an advisory body composed of private experts in related fields such as nuclear energy, international commerce, diplomacy, and security, it seeks out export issues and strategies for securing next-generation export engines.

The Ministry of Industry has also opened a’nuclear export information and support system’ for small and medium-sized nuclear power companies. It consists of a Korean site that provides Korean companies with information on entering the overseas nuclear power plant market and related support systems, and an English site that provides information on Korean companies and nuclear power plant equipment and parts to overseas clients and buyers.

As the completion of the Baraka nuclear power plant in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is scheduled for completion this year, the Ministry of Industry and Industry is planning to start the successful commercial operation of the Baraka nuclear power plant and, with this momentum, will devote all efforts to winning new overseas nuclear power plant projects such as the Czech Republic and Poland. Young-joon Joo, head of the Energy Resources Division of the Ministry of Industry, said, “We will actively support the export of nuclear equipment and parts by Korean SMEs by strengthening cooperation with major nuclear power export competitors. We will also seek export strategies in preparation for the advent of the next-generation and small and medium-sized nuclear power plant markets.” said.

However, it is questionable whether to find the same competitiveness as in the past in a situation where the related ecosystem collapses due to the government’s post-nuclear power policy, reducing the workforce of domestic companies. In order to be competitive in the export market, the supply chain, such as manpower and equipment of domestic nuclear power plants, must be maintained. A representative of a nuclear power plant equipment company located in Changwon said, “It is a large company like Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction that can withstand it, but general small and medium-sized companies are difficult to prevent the return of bills.
