The 22nd Division of the Seoul Central District Court’s Criminal Agreement (President Judge Yang Cheol-han) held a second trial at 3 am on the 10th by Deputy Chief Jung, who is accused of violating the law on aggravated punishment for certain crimes (self-directed assault). In the trial on that day, the prosecution investigator A, who accompanied the prosecutor’s office at the site of the seizure and search, appeared as a witness. Deputy General Chung also attended the trial in person, but did not make a separate statement.
Deputy General Manager Jeong is accused of assaulting a prosecutor in the process of seizing and searching a mobile phone SIM chip of a prosecutor in connection with the attempted coercion of former Channel A reporter Lee Dong-jae. According to Mr. A, when he entered a prosecutor’s office at the time and presented a warrant, a prosecutor asked to use a mobile phone to contact his attorney.
Afterwards, with the permission of Deputy General Manager Jung, when a prosecutor entered something on his mobile phone, he approached him, saying, “We should see together.” Then, Deputy General Manager Jung said, “You shouldn’t do this,” said Mr. A, saying that attempting to steal a prosecutor’s cell phone was on the verge of a struggle. Mr. A replied to the prosecution’s question, “Is there any such behavior that a prosecutor has shown an attempt to destroy evidence?”

One of the prosecutors said that the two people’s bodies overlapped as they tried to take the cell phone out of the back and refused to give it away. Afterwards, a prosecutor complained of pain with a screaming’Ah ah’, and A recalled that he fell under the sofa and rolled the floor. However, Mr. A said that he can’t remember whether Deputy General Jung deliberately pressed the body of a prosecutor. In this regard, Deputy General Jung stated in the prosecution that’I thought that a prosecutor was doing over-action.’
Mr. A replied, “No,” when the attorney on Deputy General Chung’s side asked, “Did Deputy Prosecutor Chung hit a prosecutor by flying over the table?” Mr. A said that while Deputy General Manager Jeong and a prosecutor were fighting with a cell phone, he secured a cell phone and put it away on the table under the direction of Deputy General Chung to’secure a cell phone’. Mr. A’s statement that the two people had already rolled down to the floor after putting the mobile phone on.
In the court, a 20-second video was also released that contained the situation immediately after the struggle took place. The scene of the struggle was not included at the request of a prosecutor. In the video, prosecutor Han raised his voice to Deputy General Jung, saying, “I assaulted a person in the process of executing official duties,” and when Deputy General Chung tried to calm down, “I was restricted from participating as a lawyer. I said to call, and did you not allow it?” he asked.
As a result, Mr. A said that although there was a quarrel between the two over the admission of a lawyer, Deputy Deputy General Jung finally allowed to contact the lawyer. Deputy General Chung’s next trial will be held on the 5th of next month. On this day, in addition to Mr. A, another prosecution investigator who was present at the time will appear as witnesses.
