Due to the yellow dust, the Beijing AQI has exceeded the maximum measurement limit of 500, and has been classified as’severe pollution’. AQI is an air pollution index calculated by measuring the weight of six pollutants (PM2.5, PM10, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, and ground ozone). The AQI 301~500 is classified as the most severe level 6’severe pollution’ among the 1~6 levels.

Earlier, the Beijing Meteorological Agency issued a yellow dust yellow warning at 7:35 am on the same day. The yellow dust warning in China consists of four stages: red (most severe), orange, yellow, and indigo. The yellow alarm is the second lowest of the four levels.

China’s yellow dust can affect parts of Korea from early morning on the 16th, the Meteorological Administration said. The Meteorological Administration said, “As the low pressure in the northeastern region of China moves to the east, additional yellow dust may form behind the low pressure, and there is a high possibility that it will flow into Korea by taking a north wind from the dawn or morning of the 16th.” The National Institute of Environmental Sciences also said, “an additional yellow dust source is expected in northern China during the day on the 15th, and this yellow dust is likely to increase the concentration of PM10 in the western region of Korea on the 16th.
