At one time in the morning, the concentration of ultrafine dust in Seoul soared to 88 micrograms per cubic meter and 133 micrograms in Gyeonggi-do. The average daily concentration is 59 micrograms in Seoul, about three times higher than usual. Ultrafine dust warnings were issued for the third day in Seoul, Gyeonggi and Chungnam areas. Emergency fine dust reduction measures have been put in place in the metropolitan area for the second day. To clean up the hazy atmosphere, strong winds or some rain would have to be applied. Although there is news of rain today, it mainly falls in the southern regions. In addition, on Sunday the day after tomorrow, it is expected to be affected by China’s ultrafine dust.

In the metropolitan area, emergency reduction measures for high-concentration fine dust have been issued on the second day, limiting the operation of vehicles with class 5 emissions from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
In case of violation, a penalty of 100,000 won will be imposed.
In addition, the number of dust inhalation or water cleaning on major roads has been increased from once a day to twice a day.
Rain is expected all over the country today, but it will mainly fall in the southern regions and Gangwon-do.
In Seoul and other metropolitan areas, it will be difficult to wash off fine dust as raindrops of less than 5mm fall.
Fine dust will continue tomorrow, the weekend, especially on Sundays the day after tomorrow, adding to smog from China, and the air quality is expected to be bad until next Monday.
