Korean sauces such as tteokbokki and chicken seasoning are captivating the tastes of the world.

According to the Institute for International Trade and Trade of the Korea International Trade Association on the 5th, Korea’s sauce exports last year reached an all-time high of $32.72 million. This is an all-time high, an increase of 25.8% compared to the previous year. It is analyzed as the influence of the spread of the home cook trend caused by Corona 19 and the rise of K food awareness due to the Korean Wave fever.

In terms of export share by item,’other sauces’, which included Tteokbokki sauce, chicken seasoning, bulgogi sauce, and buldak sauce, were the largest at 55.5%, followed by Gochujang (16.9%). The export growth rates of other sauces and gochujang were 33.6% and 35.2%, respectively.

The largest export country was the United States, with exports amounting to 69.7 million dollars (+31.8%), accounting for 23.1%. Recently, Kimchi-flavored powder took the top spot in Amazon’s new seasoning sales category, and a gochujang-sauce hamburger was sold at Shake Shack, a famous American hamburger chain.

China also followed with 20.2% of exports of 61084,000 dollars (+38.0%). This was followed by Russia ($24957,000), Japan ($24772,000) and the Philippines ($13211,000). The country with the largest increase in exports was Thailand (+86.4%, $9738,000).
