Film director Lee Yeon-woo (53), who directed the movie’The Turtle Runs’ and’Blood Boiling Youth’, was sentenced to imprisonment for innocent of the representative of the film production company.

According to the court on the 9th, Judge Jin Jae-kyung, who was solely for the third criminal justice of the Seoul Western District Law, sentenced Lee, who was handed over to trial for innocence, to six months in prison.

Lee was accused of innocence by filing a complaint stating that “the producer A falsely devised a script contract even though he had never said that he would pass the scenario.”

On June 30, 2014, Lee signed a contract with Company A to transfer all rights of the screenplay of the movie for 100 million won, and Company A remitted a deposit of 30 million won to Lee.

However, in February 2018, Lee passed the intellectual property rights of this scenario to another film company B and signed a standard original contract with a writing fee of 100 million won in return, and it was confirmed that he received a down payment of 50 million won. It is a contract with another movie company for the scenario in which the rights have already been transferred to Company A.

Upon hearing the news that this scenario would be made into a movie, Company A filed a request for a temporary injunction against Company B to prohibit film production, filming, screening, and distribution, and Company B was known to have protested against Lee.

As a result, Lee sued Mr. Kim, CEO of Company A, on charges of fraud and embezzlement in business, saying that he still has the rights of the scenario.

Judge Jin said, “The defendant still pretends he owns the scenario in which he transferred the right, handed it over to another company for a fee, and was rather innocent.” Revealed.
