The third day of vaccination… Going smoothly the last two days, no report of serious abnormalities

It is the third day as the 28th day after vaccination for the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) began on the 26th.

As it was the first vaccine introduced, there was great concern about adverse reactions, but until now, no serious adverse reactions such as’anaphylaxis’ (severe systemic allergic reaction) have been reported.

According to the Central Defense Countermeasure Headquarters (Bang Dae-bon), the government is planning to finish vaccinating about 365,000 people by next month.

Currently, both AstraZeneca (AZ) and Pfizer vaccines are being used.

◇ AstraZeneca vaccine is inoculated with nursing hospitals and nursing facilities, and Pfizer vaccine is inoculated with Corona 19 medical staff.

First, in the case of AstraZeneca vaccine, it is used for vaccinations under the age of 65 among workers in nursing hospitals and nursing facilities, as well as inpatients.

The number of people who received the vaccine on the first day was 18,489, accounting for about 6.0% of 31,130 people who received the vaccine.

On the first day, the vaccination rate by city and province varied greatly, reaching 28.2% (3,72 out of 1876) in Gwangju, but only 1.8% (399 out of 2,617) in Gyeongbuk.

The government does not attach much meaning to these deviations. It is a problem that can be solved as much as possible according to the local vaccination schedule.

In an online briefing on the previous day, Jung Kyung-sil, head of the vaccination management team of the Corona 19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team, said, “Now that there is only one day of vaccination on the first day, it makes no sense to say that the number of vaccinations in a specific region is more or less. Because the vaccination schedule is different in each region, I think it was affected.”

By facility, nursing hospitals can provide their own vaccinations, so the vaccination rate on the first day was 6.9% (13,929 out of 20,478 vaccinations), which was relatively high.

In the case of nursing homes, the parties either go to the public health center to receive the vaccination or the medical staff visits the vaccination.

The number of people vaccinated on the day before the second day of AstraZeneca vaccination was not confirmed, but it is expected that at least a person of a similar size to the first day was hit.

The first vaccination is completed by the 5th of the following month for nursing hospitals and the first vaccination of the following month for nursing facilities according to the schedule agreed with each public health center.

In the case of a nursing hospital, about 27,000 people must be inoculated for 7 days from the 27th to complete the vaccination for all subjects. However, considering some disagreeing with vaccinations, the actual number of vaccinations may be somewhat smaller.

Pfizer’s vaccine is being injected into the vaccination of about 55,000 medical staff and workers at the Corona 19 treatment hospital, and the first vaccination will be completed by the 20th of next month.

Since Pfizer vaccine is the first mRNA (messenger ribonucleic acid) vaccine handled by domestic medical staff, the first day, the day before, the vaccine was first administered to 300 people.

For the time being, only some vaccination centers can receive the Pfizer vaccine, but from the 8th of next month, full-scale vaccination will take place at 82 medical institutions.

◇ All 15 reports of abnormalities after vaccination of AstraZeneca are minor… Janssen’s vaccine may be approved soon.

As of 0 o’clock the previous day, a total of 15 cases of adverse reactions related to AstraZeneca vaccination were reported.

All 15 cases are mild cases such as headache, fever, nausea (nausea), and vomiting, and all of them are common symptoms after vaccination, said Bang Dae-bon.

Daebon Bang added that the causality between adverse reactions and vaccination was not confirmed.

In the case of Pfizer vaccine, no adverse reactions were reported until 2 pm the previous day.

Meanwhile, as competition for vaccines in each country is fiercer, it is expected that the number of vaccines per vial (bottle) of vaccine will increase further as the authorities allow the use of the’remaining amount of vaccine’ amid observations that the supply and demand of vaccines may become uncertain.

Pfizer vaccine has 6 people per bottle, and AstraZeneca vaccine has 10 people per bottle.

However, using a special’low dead space LDS’ developed by domestic companies, the Pfizer vaccine can hit 7 people per bottle and the AstraZeneca vaccine can hit 11-12 people. They gave guidelines that it is safe to inoculate people.

In this regard, Bang Dae-bon explained, “I sent an official letter in the sense of using it so that the amount of waste is not as much as possible in the field.”

In the midst of this, as the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety begins to examine Janssen’s COVID-19 vaccine approval, it is expected that Janssen vaccine will be available in Korea soon.

AstraZeneca and Pfizer vaccines require two vaccinations, but Janssen vaccines are known to have sufficient immune effects with only one vaccination.

The government has secured a total of 79 million vaccines so far. Specifically, 10 million AstraZeneca vaccines, 6 million Janssen vaccines, 13 million Pfizer vaccines, 20 million Modena vaccines, and 20 million NovaVax vaccines were secured through contracts by pharmaceutical companies. It was decided to supply 10 million people through the COVAX facility.
