Lee Seung-yoon, Jung Hong-il, and Lee Moo-jin, who were selected in the final TOP3, have solved the story behind the scenes from the stage that they were not able to complete on the broadcast with one question and one answer.

On the afternoon of the 16th, a press conference for TOP3 of JTBC’s entertainment program’Singer Gain’ was held live online to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Seung-yoon Lee, Hong-il Jeong, and Moo-jin Lee attended this event and discussed various stories.

▶What was your motivation for participating in’Singer Gain’ for the first time, and the reason for applying?

Jeong Hong-il: I always wanted to challenge popular music because I was obsessed with music life. Now, I feel strange because I am making a name from unknown to famous and doing music activities. It seems that it takes time for me to accept myself to act under my name.

Seungyoon Lee: I don’t like the word nameless. In fact, most of us all have names, but because it means’you don’t have a name’ and because it doesn’t shine, we lived reminiscent of my name, but’singer gain’ was better because it was an anonymous singer. Rather than saying that it was anonymous, people who thought it was an unknown singer came out, so I came out with ease.

Lee Moo-jin: Since the first time I applied, I was a singer whose qualifications were unknown, so before I was unknown, I thought,’Am I a singer?’ In fact, I was a student who could not be recognized as a singer, so I was able to apply comfortably because I thought that I should go out as an audition rather than taking the last chance in my life to participate even though I was not a singer or debuted.

▶How do you feel about the process of reaching the finals and being selected for TOP3?

Moojin Lee: At first, there are six people standing, and to be honest, I was very young, so I wanted to know what the public thoughts and how much comments and public opinion were flowing. At the beginning, I didn’t think it was me when I was in 5th or 6th place, and I was nervous when I sang 4th place, but I was lucky to climb the top 3 and was happy.

Seungyoon Lee: It wasn’t a lie to say that I showed you everything every round. I always set up the stage by making it from zero and making it from zero again. I was in a hurry about what to say and what message to put, and I became a top three.

Jeong Hong-il: Everyone is struggling equally and preparing for the round is really crazy. It wasn’t the music I used to do, but I prepared only the song and the stage to show the music with a stronger personality, and I was worried that the lyrics shouldn’t be wrong. It was the same feeling as Seungyoon.

▶ Do you realize the popularity after appearing in’Singer Gain’?

Moojin Lee: After the turning point in my life called’Singer Gain’, I’m not sure because I haven’t been outside the house since then, but I realize the popularity in that the quality of my mother’s menu has increased and the nagging towards me has decreased.

Seungyoon Lee: I didn’t know if I had such a wide connection. Everyone who passed by for a while was contacted. Many people contacted me enough to run for this, and those who have my videos uploaded them, so please refrain from posting them. Please keep it.

Jeong Hong-il: I feel good because there are people who recognize me. There aren’t any people who always recognize me, so I’m enjoying that feeling, but it doesn’t seem to change much. Since popularity doesn’t last forever, I’m preparing to avoid hurting my heart, so I hope you find out more when it’s popular. I also think I should show a different image.

▶If you have any memorable words during the encouragement and support around you.

Jeong Hong-il: It was amazing that my fans were 7-80 years old because there were many people in the age range, and I am very impressed because they like my songs, sympathize with my songs, and write. One of the memorable comments was someone who made a sentence on my personal channel with the titles of the songs I performed. It was when I didn’t open’I should’, but I was so happy to make a related sentence.

Seungyoon Lee: My memorable saying is’I became a fan of you, but I can’t even love your forehead’. What did he say when I cut my forehead.

Lee Moo-jin: I received a lot of messages of support, so it was ambiguous to pick one, and I joined my fan cafe and called TO I Moo-jin, so I saw hundreds of posts written by so many fans. It seemed to me that I had read a letter of 2 to 30 lines per article and read a book. It was impressive and made me think about why I was more energetic, and it was moving.

▶What color of music would you like to hear to the public in the future?

Seungyoon Lee: The mindset is always the same before and after the’Singer Gain’ release, but the range to keep in mind has increased. I don’t think music is necessary for everyone. I want to become a musician who sings a song that can reach someone in a certain way.

Jeong Hong-il: Since the genre that I am good at is rock, it was a challenge I started because I was curious to see what color my color will come out when rock is included in popular music through’Singer Gain’. I want to do music that tells a story, rock or popular music that contains many stories. Whether it’s a personal story or someone’s story, sadness and joy are all flowing through the note, and the content is contained in it, so I have a desire to play music that I keep listening to.

Lee Moo-jin: In fact, from a genre perspective, I haven’t decided on the path I’m most confident in or want to do, and I feel like I’ve been working on it to see if it’s fun after trying all this and that. It’s just one of them mixed into the’alley road’, but the color of the music I’ll see is endless.

▶ The number of views on the stage of’No One’ in Round 1 exceeded 16 million views. Is it a side to check viewer reactions?

Moojin Lee: I tend to look for viewers’ reactions hard, but I can’t be curious about it, so I look at it when I have time, but when I see it, I feel like this. The things that you said nicely are the things I know. Thank you for saying’I am good at these things’. However, when I see comments that point out shortcomings that I don’t know much about, I don’t check them these days because I think it’s not very productive to see comments because it makes a lot of transfer.

Seungyoon Lee: I look for a lot. It is the type to look for bad comments. It may be for a similar reason, but the comments of the compliments are gratefully accepted and melted into music, but when I see bad comments or bad articles, I have not yet been able to tell whether to go in a better direction or ignore them.

Jeong Hong-il: I often look for it. Many people said that I had no bad comments. Because of the age group of the fans, there are no bad comments, so they are also looking for bad comments. The influence of comments was greater than I thought. I want to write a reply, but I know what kind of feeling it is to not be sweet because there are too many.

▶Have you ever felt a generation gap while staying with participants with age differences?

Moojin Lee: No. In fact, I am on the side of hearing a lot of slang words that are not suitable for people these days among friends my age. So I’ve been with my brothers and sisters, but I have never felt a generation gap or difficult communication.

▶ The genre of’rock’ is loved by enthusiasts. How do you want to reach the public in the future?

Jung Hong-il: Popularity is hard forever, but music is forever. Regardless of the genre, if I say that it is above and below the water, I think it would be good if Korean rock came out a little more. Although it is popular rock music, I think that music with rock added to popular music should come out rather than existing rock. That is why rock vocalists gain popularity and pour out a lot of rock music. It would be great if such singers came out and I became the foothold.

▶If you want to pick the most impressive stage through the singer-gain stage.

Jeong Hong-il:’Hello’ by Lee Moo-jin, who recorded 16 million views. At that time, Mujin was the first stage of the contest, and I can’t erase that memory. Isn’t there a reason to show that many views?

Moojin Lee: I expected everyone to think of their own stage, so I chose my song as well. The best stage for me was’Today’s Day’ in Round 2 of Weall High. I liked it the most. Although the psychedelic genre is a less mainstream genre than rock, rock is a genre, but it is said that psychedelic is an atmosphere rather than a genre, but personally, he helped me so well. He has good arrangements and sings well, so the stage is memorable.

Seungyoon Lee: I will pick Hong-il Jeong,’Please’, Moo-jin Lee’Alleyway’, and Jeong-kwon Lee’To Name’.

▶Who was the participant you watched in the final with TOP6?

Seungyoon Lee: The memorable cast is Jeongjeong-nim. I thought he was a person who can do everything from here to the music of’Singer Gain’, and the last stage is also a truly impressive stage, so I remember it.

Moojin Lee: I would like to pick a small sister. When I was on the stage that my sister saw, I monitored it from behind and waited for my turn, but there was a little unfortunate mistake, but the expressions, gestures, and embarrassment of her sister I saw on the spot were at least one of those on the last stage. I was impressed because the script seemed to be finished. If all six of them had been lukewarmly on the stage as they were prepared, it would not have been written such a drama.

▶What does’singer gain’ mean to the three people?

Jeong Hong-il: I’ve been active all the time, but it’s a program that made it possible for me to speak my name properly and perform my music with confidence. A program that allows you to play music clearly and clearly.

Seungyoon Lee: This is a thankful program. In fact, I wasn’t a person who liked the word obscurity, but I was able to go and the straightforward structure was good because he did not express it in cool words and did it straightforward. It’s more tempting to decorate it nicely, but because I expressed it in a straight line, I also moved my heart, so it’s a thankful program

Lee Moo-jin: I think auditions with only unknown singers are very rare, but auditions with singers are not common. It was a contest with singers, and I was lucky enough to participate. It is a program that I am grateful for in that respect. If it had been an audition by unknown generals, wouldn’t I have been holding each other and performing with tension? Anyway, I was singers and I wasn’t in a situation where I could do better than them, so I was able to participate with ease.

▶What title do you want to introduce yourself in the future?

Jung Hong-il: In the beginning, I was a classic heavy metal singer capable of popular music, but now I am a popular rock vocalist Jung Hong-il. I wrote it to challenge popular music, but now I am a popular rock singer Jeong Hong-il.

Seungyoon Lee: I still said that I was a hungry singer. Now he is an authentic dance singer. I realized that I could make others dance with my songs.

Lee Moo-jin: When I was preparing for the first time, I said that I had to decide what kind of singer I am, so I wrote that I am Lee Moo-jin without hesitation. I didn’t know I wasn’t supposed to reveal my name. At that time, it was a secret that even participants should not be given names. Since ancient times, I have been told that I am Imoojin regardless of MBTI or blood type, so I live as a gonzo that says’I am Lee Moojin’. So, I am Lee Moo-jin even now.

▶I am curious about your future activity plan.

Jeong Hong-il: First of all, I think I will focus on the concert and I am planning and preparing to show the scenes and stages that I could not show during the contest.

Seungyoon Lee: We are going through a sudden change of environment, so rather than saying that we will do something first, we will see what kind of plan we can make, and let’s do it well.

Moojin Lee: I have never released a song containing my story to the world, so there are songs I have won, and I am trying to release some songs out of the world. As soon as possible.
