Consumer prices for broilers and ducks also rose by 9.7% and 2.6%, respectively.

Highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI) does not fade in domestic poultry farms, and the price of one egg (30 special eggs) exceeded 6,000 won. It is the first time since statistics were written in March 2018 that the price of an egg has exceeded 6,000 won.

According to the avian influenza central accident control center (heavy water version) and livestock distribution information at the Livestock Quality Hospital on the 10th, the number of highly pathogenic AIs that occurred until the previous day was counted as 50.

On this day, a suspicious case occurred at the Geochang Meat Duck Farm in Gyeongnam, and a temporary suspension order was issued in the Gyeongnam area. As of 0 o’clock on that day, the number of poultry killed was 1379,000 broiler ducks, 83,000 bell ducks, 6383,000 laying hens, and 4867,000 broilers, a total of 15319,000.

With the rapid increase in the number of killers, the prices of chickens and ducks as well as eggs are rising. On the 7th, the price of an egg surpassed 6000 won at 6027 won, and on the 8th it jumped to 6082 won, up 55 won.

However, compared to the time when more than a third of laying hens were disposed of due to the spread of AI in 2016-2017, and the price of an egg reached 10,000 won, the situation is favorable.

Consumer prices for broilers rose 9.7% from the previous month to 5643 won per kg as of the 8th, and consumer prices for ducks also rose 2.6% from the previous month to 14,257 won per kg.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food said, “Last month, we supplied chicks of the level of the previous year to the laying hen farms, and chicken and duck meat also have more frozen stock than normal, so there is no big problem with supply and demand. We plan to actively respond to prevent it.”
