It was belatedly known that Nexon founder Kim Jeong-joo, CEO of NXC (Nexon holding company) (photo), donated 10 billion won of personal money to the construction of a children’s hospital.

According to the information technology (IT) and medical industry on the 26th, CEO Kim agreed to donate 10 billion won in private funds for the construction of’Daejeon Chungnam Nexon Children’s Rehabilitation Hospital’ and’Seoul National University Hospital-Nexon Child Rehabilitation Medical Center’. 5 billion won has already been delivered, and the remaining 5 billion won will be donated by next year.

Previously, Nexon said that it will donate 20 billion won each to build the Nexon Children’s Rehabilitation Hospital in Daejeon Chungnam in 2019 and the Children’s Rehabilitation Medical Center at Seoul National University in 2020. However, it did not disclose whether CEO Kim’s personal money was included in the donation. An official from NXC explained that “CEO Kim announced that he would give back 100 billion won to society in 2018, and that he kept this promise.

It is known that CEO Kim will continue to do’external direct donation’. This is in contrast to the way entrepreneurs usually donate by setting up a social contribution foundation. It is said that CEO Kim is showing great interest in building a children’s hospital. The only official event he attended last year, called the’reclusive manager’, was the Seoul National University Hospital-Nexon business agreement and donation delivery ceremony held in October.

An official from NXC explained, “CEO Kim has been paying a lot of attention to donation activities related to children because the main users of the game are teenagers and they are the leading players in the future.” NXC, which is 100% owned by CEO Kim and his family, is also known to have donated more than 15 billion won.

Daejeon Chungnam Nexon Children’s Rehabilitation Hospital, built with the donation of CEO Kim and Nexon, is the first public child rehabilitation hospital in Korea. Nexon also donated 20 billion won for the establishment of the Purme Foundation Nexon Children’s Rehabilitation Hospital in Sangam-dong, Seoul in 2014. Last month, it also donated 38.2 million won and added 1,915.6 million won since its opening for the stable operation of the hospital. Nexon established the Nexon Foundation in 2018 and has been conducting corporate-wide social contribution activities.
