[에너지신문] The Yangjae hydrogen charging station, which had been shut down due to aging facilities, was fully decorated with the latest facilities and returned to the arms of Seoul citizens.

Yangjae hydrogen charging station invested 3 billion won, increased the hydrogen charging capacity by about three times compared to the previous one, and reopened it with the latest facilities, held a free charging event from the 26th to the 28th, and will begin full-scale operation from March 1, the Ministry of Environment said .

The newly renovated Yangjae hydrogen charging station secured a charging capacity of 350kg per day, allowing it to charge about 70 hydrogen cars. In addition, it is equipped with facilities such as electric vehicle charging and energy storage system (ESS), as well as charging hydrogen vehicles on the site, which serves as a’base for comprehensive non-polluting vehicles (hydrogen vehicles, electric vehicles).

In fact, Yangjae Hydrogen Charging Station was the first hydrogen charging station to be built in downtown Seoul, and was built for research in November 2010 to be used by Hyundai Motors to develop hydrogen vehicles. Since then, as part of the government’s policy to expand the supply of hydrogen cars, it has been open to general users since 2018, helping to revitalize hydrogen cars. The inconvenience was great.

This time, the facility improvement construction was completed with the latest facilities and reborn as a’Yangjae Pollution-Free Vehicle (Electric Vehicle, Hydrogen Vehicle) Station’, and it is ready to greet citizens.

In particular, in September 2020, the ownership of the charging station was transferred from Hyundai Motor to Seoul City, and as the change permission was completed in Seocho-gu on November 24, 2020, the full-scale transition from research charging station to commercial use is expected to improve service.

The Ministry of Environment has been promoting the hydrogen charging station project by closely communicating with Seoul City, Seocho-gu, and local residents for the transition to a city without fine dust and a carbon-neutral city.

The Ministry of Environment has endeavored to increase acceptance of hydrogen charging stations by holding non-face-to-face presentations for residents of Seocho-gu to reopen Yangjae hydrogen charging stations, and has endeavored to build charging stations based on trust in safety.

The reopening of the Yangjae hydrogen charging station is expected to make it easier to charge hydrogen vehicles in Seoul. As of the end of January this year, 1,719 hydrogen vehicles are registered in Seoul, and 216 are registered in Seocho-gu alone, and it is the only autonomous district with more than 200 vehicles out of 25 autonomous districts.

However, this reopening has not only solved the inconvenience of using the National Assembly charging station, but also improved charging conditions as Seocho-gu residents can receive a 30% discount on hydrogen fuel purchase costs.

On the other hand, on this day, Environment Minister Han Han-ae visited the newly renovated Yangjae Hydrogen Charging Station (located in Seocho-gu, Seoul) and held a demonstration event for free charging of hydrogen vehicles with the first citizens who visited it.

Minister Han Han-ae congratulated the reopening of the Yangjae hydrogen charging station and asked the officials at the site to “do our best to create an environment where citizens can charge hydrogen more conveniently” and “in the future, He added, “We will try to expand hydrogen charging stations early by utilizing LPG charging stations and gas stations so that you can experience the results of the Green New Deal.”
