Studies have shown that obesity is closely related to the mortality rate of the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19).

The Financial Times (FT) reported on the 4th that according to a recent study supported by the World Health Organization (WHO), 9 out of 10 deaths from Corona 19 were analyzed to have occurred in countries with high levels of obesity. Of the 2.5 million corona19 deaths around the world, 2.2 million were counted from countries with high levels of obesity.

‘Age’ is the most closely related to death from Corona 19. There were many deaths in the elderly population. However, it is estimated that there is also an important correlation with overweight. WHO Secretary-General Tedros Adhanom Gebreyesus stressed that “this report should play a role in setting an alarm for governments around the world to tackle obesity.”

According to data, Vietnam has the lowest mortality rate in the world, with 0.04 deaths per 100,000 people from Corona 19. The overweight population is 18.5%, the second lowest in the world.

The UK, on the other hand, had 184 deaths per 100,000 people, the third highest mortality rate in the world. The UK is the world’s fourth-largest country with an overweight population of 63.7%. The United States has 152 deaths per 100,000 people, and the obesity rate is 68%.
