The KBS Labor Union, a minority KBS union, met with the leadership of the Korean Federation of Trade Unions on the morning of the 26th to establish the Federation of Media Industry Unions under the Korean Trade Union. They aim to establish a media industry union alliance under the Korean Federation of Trade Unions in the second half of next year.
Heo Seong-kwon, chairman of the KBS Labor Union, said on the 26th Media Today, “Today (26th), we will visit the Korean Federation of Trade Unions to discuss the establishment of the Federation.” We will disclose later which media will be with you.”
Currently, the KBS majority union is the KBS headquarters of the national media labor union under the KCTU. There is no media industry union in the Korean Federation of Trade Unions yet. Industry union means organizing workers in the same industry into one union.
KBS Labor Union, a minority union, said on the 25th, “We will protect the political neutrality of workers in each media company, abolish the punitive damages law on media and portals, and strengthen the networking of workers in new media companies (general, Internet, YouTube).” The union’s media industry union federation was established.
KBS Labor Union plans to collect enough public opinion on the field in the first half of this year. In the second half of the year, it was announced that it would hold a media industry union alliance promoter contest. In the second half of the year, it announced that it would hold a general voting for members to join the industry federation.
Heo Sung-kwon, chairman of KBS Labor Union, who was elected earlier this year, pledged to establish and join the Federation of Korean Trade Unions Media Industry Union.
