It is a judgment that the true qualification is ineligible. The complainant was Shin Sang-cheol, a civilian investigator of the Cheonan Civil-Military Joint Corps, and was filed last September. However, the committee decided on December 14 last year that it was eligible. At the time, the committee said, “The complaint in this case is truly qualified and does not correspond to the reasons for dismissal under Article 17 of the Special Act on the investigation of the facts of military deaths.”
Furthermore, the committee said, “There are considerable reasons to suspect that the cause of the death is not clear.” In the contents of the press release on the 2nd of the committee, there was no mention of this judgment, and only the true eligibility was made the opposite decision.
From eligible to ineligible. Why did the committee overturn the judgment on the true qualifications? An official from the Military Net Accident Investigation Committee said, “The decision to dismiss can be made as soon as (your reason) is confirmed.” “The decision to commence the investigation was judged based on the contents of the petitioner’s complaint at the time. Today’s situation is that the victims’ families and Captain Cheonan visited the committee yesterday, and the chairman heard the opinions and convened an emergency meeting today and decided as a result of discussions at the meeting.”
Shortly before the second-by-election, the official replied, “I don’t know that, and I’m not in a position to answer,” when asked if it was a decision to overturn, worried that this fact was known and affected the election.
