This is an opinion letter from the University of Connecticut professor Alexis Duden, an American historian, to an international journal.

In an article titled’Abuse of History’, Professor Durdon refuted Professor Ramsey’s arguments.

First of all, he criticized the use of the term contract relations for the forced mobilization of comfort women, which the international community has defined as crimes against humanity, as shameful.

He then emphasized that it is also very important to hold accountability for upholding fake news as facts.

Professor Ramsey’s argument is, in a word, “fake news without any grounds.”

Professor Durdon also made a point that’academic freedom is at the core of democracy, but academic lies are not.’

Earlier, two fellow professors at Harvard University, including Andrew Gordon and Professor Carter Eckert, made a criticism statement, and five historians from four countries also urged withdrawal, saying, “The paper is out of error.”

In Berlin, Germany, a rally in memory of the victims of extreme right terror was held in front of the Statue of Peace.

A civic group centered on local grandmothers criticized Professor Ramsey’s claim and decided to continue its activities to establish a permanent girl statue.

At Harvard University, Korean students held an online debate to spread the truth about the comfort women issue.
