(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Noh Jae-hyun = British media reports that Queen Elizabeth II (94) was always frustrated by her eldest son, Prince Charles (72).

The British press Daily Mail reported that Clive Irving, the author of a new biography about the British royal family,’The Last Queen’, claimed this in the documentary’Love, Honor and Crown’ aired on British Broadcasting Channel 4 on the 21st (local time).

In this documentary, Irving said, “Queen Elizabeth II really did not understand her eldest son, Prince Charles, and was embarrassed by Prince Charles.”

Prince Charles is the number one successor to the British throne.

According to Irving, Queen Elizabeth II has shown more affection for the second son Prince Andrew (61) than for Prince Charles.

Ingrid Seward, editor of the British royal magazine,’Majesty’, also explained in the Channel 4 documentary that the characters of Prince Charles and the brothers of Andrew are the opposite.

“He looked loud, arrogant and very nice when he wanted to,” said Seward. “He has his own father (Philip Gong) personality.”

Queen Elizabeth II was proud of Prince Andrew’s active service in the navy, including directing helicopters during the 1982 Falkland War, Seward explained.

However, Prince Andrew is also the person who perplexed the British royal family.

Prince Andrew announced in November 2019 that he would take responsibility for allegations of “sex entertainment” raised against him and cease public affairs.

At the time, Prince Andrew caused great ripples in Britain over suspicion of having sex with a teenage woman sent by US billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, who committed sexual crimes against children.

The documentary also featured the scandal of Queen Elizabeth II’s sister Princess Margaret (died in 2002).

Princess Margaret was controversial in the mid-1950s after showing her willingness to marry Peter Townsend, a divorced man from the royal family.

In the meantime, claims have been raised that Queen Elizabeth II attempted to prevent the marriage of her younger sister and divorced man.

According to data released in the documentary, Queen Elizabeth II agreed with then British Prime Minister Anthony Eden on Princess Margaret’s wedding.

However, when Princess Margaret ended her relationship with Townsend, their marriage could not proceed, Channel 4 explained.

In a documentary, Channel 4 also evaluated that Philip Gong, 99, the husband of Queen Elizabeth II, played an important role in the modernization of the British monarchy.
