[스포츠서울 정다워기자] Suwon FC is the team that can produce the most unexpected results this season.
Sports Seoul surveyed the coaches and captains of 12 K-League 1 teams before the opening, and as a result, Suwon FC was selected as the dark horse that shakes the game of the season. Out of a total of 24 votes, 12 votes, including 5 managers and 7 captains, came to Suwon FC. It means that the majority of the total number of surveys are watching Suwon FC’s actions.
This is not an unexpected result. Suwon FC is the team that spent last winter most steadily. As a promotion team, we have faithfully strengthened our abilities to secure competitiveness in the first division. Suwon FC, which made survival a top priority, built the power to remain. It strengthened the back door by securing veteran defender Park Joo-ho, Jeong Dong-ho, Park Ji-soo, and Yoon Young-seon. High-level players such as Yang Dong-hyun, Lee Young-jae, Han Seung-gyu, and Murillo also joined. Overall, it is true that it has transformed into a team suitable for K League 1.

Jeonbuk Hyundai coach Kim Sang-sik, Daegu FC coach Lee Byeong-geun, Seongnam FC coach Kim Nam-il, and FC Seoul coach Park Jin-seop rated Suwon FC as a dark horse. Coach Nam-il Kim said, “We have recruited players with seasoned and experienced players. The bold investment stands out,” he praised Suwon FC. Among the captains, Kim Jin-hyuk (Daegu), Joo-min (Seongnam), Lee Cheong-yong (Ulsan Hyundai), Ki Sung-yong (Seoul), Kim Do-hyuk (Incheon United), and Lim Chae-min (Gangwon FC) chose Suwon FC. Ki Sung-yong said, “Suwon FC, which has recruited a lot of good players, is the dark horse.”
What is interesting is that both director Kim Do-gyun and Jung Dong-ho have designated themselves as dark horses. Director Kim Do-gyun said, “In my own way, I reinforced my power and trained faithfully. There are a few injuries, but if you endure the beginning well, you will have a good enough season.” This is where you can get a glimpse of your strong confidence.

Apart from Suwon FC, other promoted teams Jeju United and Seoul, which switched to manager Park Jin-seop, received many votes. Park Geon-ha Suwon, manager of Samsung, Cho Seong-hwan, Incheon, and Kim Byung-soo, director of Gangwon, voted in Jeju. As a player, Suwon Samsung captain Kim Min-woo chose Jeju. Although Jeju is a promoted team, it has kept a large number of promoted members and has strengthened the squad by recruiting necessary resources from various places. It is enough to become a dark horse as coach Nam Gi-il is experienced in the first division. In the case of Seoul, Pohang coach Kim Ki-dong, Ulsan coach Hong Myung-bo, and Gwangju FC coach Kim Ho-young rated them as dark horses. Among the players, Hong Jeong-ho pointed to Seoul. Last season, he was a member of the lower ranks and suffered a relegation crisis, but it is expected that he will build a challenging force as he has recruited a command tower that has been verified in the first division and has steadily reinforced his power.
Meanwhile, Jeju captain Lee Chang-min chose Incheon as the dark horse, and Pohang captain Oh Bum-seok threw a vote to his team. Manager Nam Ki-il, who did not choose a team, said, “The environment is more dark horse than the team. May break due to Corona 19 and tight schedules can be variables.”
