The power of the people accuses Tak Hyun-min of violating the broadcasting law

The power of the people announced that they would file a complaint with the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office on the 28th for violating the Broadcasting Act, the Blue House Protocol Secretary Tak Hyun-min. The People’s Power Media Special Commission revealed this in a press release on the 27th.

It is argued that the ‘2050 Korea Carbon Neutral Vision Declaration’ broadcasted by six broadcasters including KBS on the 10th, and related secretary Tak ordered a specific production policy to KBS.

Media Special Commission said, “According to the KBS internal text message, it is said that in addition to simply transmitting the screen in black and white, the contents instructing the specific production policy such as’No color subtitles or logos allowed to be inserted on the black and white screen’ were included. It destroys the fundamental purpose of broadcasting law, which treats fairness and independence as core values. He argued that there was a regulation or interference with the broadcasting system.

The Broadcasting Act stipulates that “anyone may not regulate or interfere with the broadcasting programming except in accordance with this Act or other laws.” Violation of this will result in imprisonment for up to two years or a fine of up to 30 million won. In January, the Supreme Court confirmed the trial court sentenced to a fine of 10 million won to former Saenuri Party representative Lee Jung-hyun (predecessor of the People’s Power) for intervening in KBS reports during the 2014 Sewol ferry disaster.

KBS said on the 11th, “For the broadcast broadcast of ‘2050 Korea’s Carbon Neutral Vision Declaration’, the KBS broadcast production team decided on major issues such as broadcast time, camera location, video directing, and screen composition through several discussions with the person in charge of the Blue House.” “It was decided through such a consultation process that some images were processed in black and white to raise awareness about carbon emissions,” he said. It is contradicting that it was a discussion with Secretary Tak, not an intervention by Secretary Tak.

On the 27th, Secretary Tak told Facebook, “I heard the news of a complaint from the people regarding the transmission of black and white carbon neutral images. After the video was sent out, the encouragement I received will replace the small meeting.” In the post of Secretary Tak, the video and messages from the EU ambassador to Korea, the British ambassador to Korea, and the Dutch ambassador to Korea to the effect of supporting President Moon’s declaration were included.
