
It was found that men in their 40s in Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do, had the highest number of individual stock investors nationwide by gu/si/gun, gender and age group.
According to the Korea Securities Depository on the 18th, among individual investors at the end of last year, the number of male investors in their 40s living in Suwon was 34,463, the highest in the country.
This is the first time that a man in Suwon in his 40s has been ranked first in this category since the KFTC has calculated related statistics since 2016.
Last year, the number of male investors in their 40s in Gangnam-gu was 34,187. The total number of shares held by male investors in their 40s in Suwon (26.8 million shares) was less than a quarter of that of Gangnam (825.13 million shares), but the number itself was higher.
For four years from 2016 to 2019, the number of male investors in Gangnam’s 40s was the highest. The number of male investors in their 40s in Suwon was 24,790 in 2018, the fourth in the country. The difference was more than 5,000 people from the number of male shareholders in Gangnam’s 40s (31,161 people), which was the only person at the time that had more than 30,000.
However, by the end of 2019, the number of male shareholders in Suwon’s 40s was 26,126, which began to narrow the gap with men in their 40s (341) in Gangnam, but last year, slightly ahead. The number of male investors in their 40s in Suwon, which increased last year, reached 8337 (31.9%). On the other hand, Gangnam only increased by 4146 (13.8%).
According to the Ministry of Public Administration and Security, the number of men in their 40s living in Suwon at the end of 2019 was 103,709. At the end of last year, there were 10,2242 people, down 1467 people.
Meanwhile, in Suwon, not only men in their 40s, but also other age groups were actively investing in stocks last year. Men in their thirties (38,91) and men in their fifties (29,098) also invested around 30,000, respectively, ranking 6th and 7th. The number of female investors in their 40s reached 28,08.
Three out of four men in their 40s in Gangnam are investing in stocks. As of the end of last year, there were 46,145 males in their 40s in Gangnam, of which 34,463 were shareholders, accounting for 74.7% of investors.
