On the 7th, the Gwangju Southern Police Department is arresting and investigating Inspector A of the Gwangju Western Police Station on charges of stealing 25 million won worth of precious metal from the gold and silver room (special theft). According to the police, Inspector A is accused of stealing 25 million won worth of precious metal by invading a gold and silver room in Nam-gu, Gwangju at around 4 am on the 18th of last month.

According to the police, Inspector A covered the license plate of the vehicle used in the crime. A closed circuit TV (CCTV) was installed in the gold and silver room, but it was difficult to identify the identity as Inspector A covered his face with a mask and hat.

Inspector A cut the shutter of the gold and silver room with the prepared tool, broke the glass case, and stole the precious metal and ran away. The crime took less than a few minutes. Because of this, he was able to leave the scene before the private security company arrived.

In order to determine the suspect’s identity, the police continued to expand the scope of the CCTV search, which contained vehicle traffic, and then identified Inspector A. It was investigated that Inspector A drove into the countryside of the Jeonnam region immediately after the crime to avoid CCTV. As Inspector A is an incumbent police officer, the police are grasping the course of the crime, seeing that they have made a detailed movement conscious of CCTV.

Inspector A currently admits all of his crimes in the police investigation. It was investigated that Inspector A planned a gold and silver room hair to pay off a huge debt. The police recovered most of the precious metals that were in storage after Inspector A stole them. The police plan to apply for an arrest warrant after further investigation.
