The government evaluated that the’third pandemic’ of a new coronavirus infection in Korea (Corona 19) has passed its peak.

Yoon Tae-ho, head of the Central Accident Control Headquarters (Heavy Soo-bon), said at a regular briefing on the 6th, “The current epidemic is a time when the current epidemic has declined from its peak to a gradual decline, with the number of domestic cases falling to 800 in the last week.

The average daily number of local outbreaks in the last week was 833.4. It was less than the previous week (1009).

The metropolitan area decreased from 708.6 to 574.4 during this period.

“The effect is showing up through preemptive tests and’social distancing’,” said Yun Tae-ho. “However, considering the widespread infection pattern in the community, the future decline will be slow and gentle. It is expected,” he said.

“Since the implementation of step 2.5, there is a trend that the amount of movement continues to decrease,” he said. “The efforts of citizens have led to a decrease in patients.”

The amount of travel over the weekend (1.2-3), analyzed by the government based on mobile phone data, was 22.36 million in the metropolitan area and 24.14 million in the non-metropolitan area, down 5.2% and 3.6%, respectively, compared to the previous weekend (December 26-27, 2020).

The government explained that hospital beds are also available. In the metropolitan area, the number of confirmed patients waiting for more than one day to be assigned a bed after the corona 19 was confirmed remained ‘0’ for the third day until this day.

As of the previous day, there are 177 critically ill beds in the country. Of these, 82 are available in the metropolitan area.

In addition, 8243 life treatment centers (6612 in the metropolitan area) and 3088 hospitals dedicated to infectious diseases (743 in the metropolitan area) are available.
