Hwanghee in the Department of Culture and Culture… Kwon Chil-seung in the mid-term

On the 20th, President Moon Jae-in appointed Democratic Party member Kwon Chil-seung as the new Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Foreign Affairs Eui-yong Eui-yong (from left), President’s Foreign Affairs and Security Special Advisory, Hwang Hee as Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Democratic Party member Kwon Chil-seung as Minister of Small and Medium Venture Business.

On the 20th, President Moon Jae-in appointed the former head of the National Security Office, Eui-yong Eui-yong, who coordinated the talks between President Donald Trump and North Korean general secretary Kim Jong-un with North Korea to the Minister of Foreign Affairs. In addition, the diplomatic and security lines were reorganized in line with the inauguration of the US administration, including the appointment of Seoul International Relations Ambassador Kim Hyung-jin as the second deputy head of the National Security Office. Hyeon-jong Kim, the second deputy chief of the National Security Office, has moved to the position as Special Advisor for Foreign Affairs and Security of the President.

As Candidate Jung, who coordinated the inter-Korean summit and US-North Korea talks, was selected as the last foreign minister of the current government, it is interpreted that President Moon’s intention to continue the existing policy toward North Korea was also expressed by the Biden government. Diplomats raised concerns that “the biden government is inaugurated and it is expected that it will start’clearing Trump’ in the future, and as President Moon overlooked the existing diplomatic and security lines, it could lead to a crack in ROK-US cooperation.”

President Moon also appointed Democratic Party lawmaker Hwang-hee and SME Minister Kwon Chil-seung as Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism on the same day. Excluding the field of diplomacy and security, the ministers’ personnel were filled with’classmates’ from the Blue House of the participatory government. The previously appointed Minister of Public Administration and Security Jeon Hae-cheol and Justice Minister Park Beom-gye are also members of the ruling party. On the other hand, President Moon approved the dismissal bill following the expression of his appreciation from Minister of SMEs and Startups Park Young-sun, who decided to run for mayor of Seoul this afternoon. Accordingly, it is known that Park will sooner or later declare a run for Seoul Mayor.
