The number of employees employed in Daegu and Gyeongbuk last month decreased

It was found that the employment situation in Daegu and Gyeongbuk area deteriorated last December due to the prolonged corona 19 effect.

According to the’Employment Trends in Daegu and Gyeongbuk Province for December 2020,’ released by the Northeast Regional Statistics Office on the 13th, the number of employed in Daegu last December was 1198,000, down 8,000 from the same month last year. Business/private/public service (30,000 persons), electricity/transportation/communication/financial business (9,000 persons) increased, while wholesale/retail/restaurant business (20,000 persons), manufacturing industry (-16,000 persons), agriculture, forestry and fishery (-7 persons) 1,000) and construction (-4 thousand) have decreased the number of employed.

The number of unemployed in Daegu was 47,000, an increase of 14,000 from the same month last year. The unemployment rate was 3.8%, up 1.2%p.

The number of employed in the Gyeongbuk region was 1385,000, down 33,000 from the same month last year. Agriculture, forestry and fishery (47,000 people), business/private/public service (32,000 people), electricity, transportation, telecommunications, finance (2,000 people), and construction (1,000 people) sectors increased, while wholesale, retail and lodging and restaurant businesses (-7 14,000) and manufacturing (-40,000) were found to have decreased.

However, the number of unemployed in Gyeongbuk was 57,000, down by 7,000 from the same month last year. The unemployment rate fell 0.3 percentage points to 4.0%.

Last year overall, the number of employees employed per year in Daegu was 11.84 thousand, down 35,000 from the previous year. The number of employed in Gyeongbuk was 1418,000, down 12,000 from a year ago.

Meanwhile, nationwide, the number of employed people last year declined the largest in 22 years since 1998 during the financial crisis.

Last year, the number of employees employed per year was 26.94,000, a decrease of 218,000 from a year ago. Last year, the number of unemployed was 1.18,000, an increase of 45,000 from the previous year. The unemployment rate rose 0.2 percentage points to 4.0%, the highest since 2001 (4.0%).
