It was confirmed that the so-called’Moon Jae-in Prompter’ photos that go around online have been fabricated. While the medium in which the original photo was taken is said to be a’fake photo’, the Blue House is in a position that this controversy is absurd.
Recently, online, related photos have spread along with claims that President Moon Jae-in responded as written on a prompter (a device that displays manuscripts on the screen) at a New Year press conference. It is a picture that says, “If the President is speechless, try taking time while answering the principle first.”

This quickly spread among netizens who were critical of President Moon. In the case of webtoon writer Seo-in Yoon, who is classified as an extreme right-mindedness, he shared this photo on his Facebook and compared President Moon to an “avatar”. There was also a case where a local media published and deleted the photo under the title of “President Wen’s ‘2021 New Year Press Conference’”.
However, this was a manipulated photograph. It is a composite of false phrases on a prompter screen that contains the reporter’s name, affiliation, and the point of the question asked at the press conference. The Blue House explained that the press conference is in the form of immediate and immediate answers and that one person often asks multiple questions, so the summary information was written down for faithful answers. In the original photo, “What is the specific goal of the real estate stabilization policy for OBS reporters? What are your thoughts on strengthening the ownership tax?” The photo was taken in January of last year, not this year.

An official from the Blue House said in Media Today, “The contents of the photos that go around are not at all true. The official said, “I didn’t know how the President would respond, but how would I write the answer wording?” and said, “It’s very surprising that such a thing is controversial.”
Yonhap News, which took the original photo, also said on the 21st, “A’fake photo’ that distorted the scene of President Moon Jae-in’s New Year’s press conference on social media is being distributed. It was manipulated.” Yonhap News said, “We inform you that the fake photo has nothing to do with Yonhap News. If you have posted the photo, please delete it immediately, and please be careful not to disseminate the photo in question.”
Meanwhile, claims that President Moon Jae-in had rehearsed several times with reporters ahead of this year’s press conference, but this is also not true. There were six rehearsals until the press conference on the 18th, but all were technical rehearsals. As it was the first online and offline press conference in history, it was a place to check whether the voices and videos of reporters attending the press conference were transmitted normally. In the actual rehearsal, reporters participated in the test by saying their affiliation and name rather than the actual question to be asked, and there were many cases where they participated in the technical test but did not get a question.
