The police investigating the death of a mother and daughter in Cheongyang, Chungcheongnam-do, secured a statement from the surviving family that “the mother and daughter left the house at dawn on the 31st of last month”

According to the Cheongyang Police Station in Chungnam on the 1st, a woman in her 40s and a daughter (13) left the house at around 2:40 am on the 31st of last month. The police secured these statements from a bereaved family sleeping at home with her mother and daughter.
The police confirmed the two walking toward the Jicheon Ecological Park through a closed circuit TV (CCTV) near the Jicheon Ecological Park where the mother and daughter were found dead. It is a 10-minute walk from the mother and daughter’s house to the corpse discovery point.
A police official said, “We haven’t found any suspicions for their murder.” There were no wounds on the body and no evidence of resistance, a police official said. It was found that the clothes of mothers and daughters found near the body had no traces of torn or dirt. The police plan to determine the cause of death through an autopsy.
These mothers and daughters were found in a river near Jicheon Ecological Park in Cheongyang-eup, Cheongyang-gun, around 2:25 pm on the 31st of last month. On this afternoon, a resident walking through the Jicheon Ecological Park found it and reported it to the police. All of the bodies were naked.

Jicheon Ecological Park, where the mother and daughter’s bodies were found, is a resting area for residents about 500m away from the town of Cheongyang. The park is located at the junction of Daechicheon and Jicheon. It is a place that is easily noticeable during the busy day.
The body was found under the bank of a river toward Daechicheon. Police dispatched to the scene found the body of a mother and daughter in a stream and sediment 7 to 8 meters from the bank. Daechicheon has a low water quantity, so its depth is around 1m.
A police official said, “The mother and daughter’s bodies were crouched at intervals of about 1m, and they found clothes and shoes around them.”
