Of the confirmed cases of the new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) at the Seoul East Detention Center and transferred to the North Gyeongsangbuk-do 2nd Prison on the 28th of last month (formerly Cheongsong Prison), 155 of the confirmed cases were negative on the 7th after 10 days. The Ministry of Justice will re-examine all of them to see if they are naturally healed, and announce the results as early as eight days.

Today’s results as soon as possible

Why voice? Natural healing test error

Controversy arose because half of the 345 people (later four were released) who were initially confirmed as confirmed and transferred to Cheongsong Prison were suddenly negative and the cause was not identified. It is difficult for both the Ministry of Justice and the quarantine authorities to determine whether natural healing has occurred or whether there was an error in the original inspection.

Some experts mentioned the possibility of’natural healing’ that the confirmed patients transferred to Cheongsong were asymptomatic or mildly infected without underlying disease, so they could heal without treatment.

On the other hand, it is pointed out that the possibility of test errors is high as many people turned negative in a short period of time. This is because there is a possibility that if the test is performed by a person who has not been sufficiently trained to collect specimens, the result may be incorrect, whether it is the first positive test at the Dongbu detention center or the negative test at Cheongsong. In this case, once again, the Ministry of Justice’s theory of responsibility for amateur quarantine is expected to follow.

Will the spread of eastern detention centers break?

In the eastern detention center of Seoul, where the group infection occurred due to the “three-mil (close, dense, closed)” structure, two additional people were confirmed on this day. The two newly confirmed cases were the detainees who were classified as undecided in the 6th total investigation of the Dongbu Detention Center on the 5th and were finally confirmed. As of 9 a.m. on that day, there were 1207 cumulative corona19 confirmed cases in correctional facilities nationwide. The number of prisoners, including those released from prisoners, was 1165, and correctional facility employees were counted as 42.

However, the spreading trend is in the shape of a break. The previous day, the Ministry of Justice announced that “when looking at the test results, the spread of Corona 19 in correctional facilities is decreasing.”

Only female inmates are excluded?

The lack of quarantine for female prisoners remains controversial. Criticism was raised for the absence of female prisoners during the sixth total survey. Even female workers were included in the test, but the absence of female prisoners was controversial.

In response, the Ministry of Justice stated that ▶ all female inmates were negative at the 1st to 5th prosecutors, and ▶ mentioned the reasons why they were clearly separated from male inmates. In addition, I heard that female employees who commute to work are likely to be infected due to external contact, but female prisoners use limited space.

However, the reason why male negative testers at 1st to 5th were included in the 6th test and excluded only women was still unexplained.

The Ministry of Justice said that the 7th total inspection included female prisoners. Currently, it is known that about 330 female prisoners were held in the Eastern Detention Center.
