A new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) outbreak at welfare facilities for homeless people in Seoul is spreading more and more, which has caused an emergency. To make matters worse, the three homeless people who have been diagnosed as being confirmed and have to be transferred to hospitals and quarantine treatment facilities are experiencing increased anxiety as they cannot be identified.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 29th that the number of confirmed cases related to welfare facilities for the homeless in Jung-gu increased to 34, with 14 additional persons added during the day on the 28th.

All 14 new confirmed cases are homeless. The number of confirmed cases related to this facility continues to increase, following 7 on the 26th and 9 on the 27th. Of the 296 people tested so far, the remaining 180 patients, except for 116 (34 positive, 82 negative, except for the first confirmed person) have no results, so the number of confirmed patients may increase. About 70 people identified as close contacts are being transferred to a temporary quarantine facility by the Seoul Metropolitan Government for management.

In particular, three of the homeless confirmed patients must be admitted to hospitals and quarantine facilities, but the location is currently unknown. An official from the Seoul Metropolitan Government said, “One person disappeared after completing the basic epidemiological investigation and allotment of beds, and the police are looking for it, and the other two were not even conducted basic epidemiological investigation.” Said.

In addition, the epidemiological investigation of homeless people whose housing is not constant is experiencing great difficulties. Most of them do not have mobile phones and credit cards, so it is difficult to objectively identify the traffic lines and close contacts.

An official from Seoul said, “If a confirmed homeless person is admitted to the hospital with the help of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in-depth epidemiologic investigations through face-to-face interviews will identify the movement and close contacts. “We are discussing with the government to get cooperation.”

The Seoul Metropolitan Government decided to use the’Seoul Station Temporary Screening Clinic’ so that homeless people and residents of the side of the Seoul Station area can be examined, while additionally operating a’visiting screening clinic’ in Dongja-dong Saedream Children’s Park for two days until the 30th.

Aside from the homeless facility at Seoul Station, a total of 722 people were tested at the screening clinic that visits homeless people from the 27th, and the results were positive and 601 negative.
