US media reported that the bodyguards suffered great inconvenience, such as driving a car to use the toilet, using the toilet at the home of the former president and the vice president, or renting a toilet next door. It is being criticized for wasting more than $3,000 (approximately 3.3 million won) of blood tax per month only for toilet rent.

According to the Washington Post (WP) on the 15th (local time), the Lee Bangka couple have been guarded by federal security guards for the past four years of President Trump’s tenure and have banned bodyguards from entering the bathroom. Usually, the bodyguards use the toilets in their homes to avoid distancing them from the guards, but even though the couple’s homes have six toilets, they have banned the use of toilets by the guards.

The bodyguards of the Banca couple, who were banned from using the toilet, are known to have suffered great inconvenience, such as driving a 1.6km away place, such as the toilet of former President Barack Obama and Vice President Mike Pence. A simple toilet was installed outside the house and used, but it also had to be demolished soon due to complaints of inconvenience from the residents.

Eventually, the US Secret Service began struggling to find a rental toilet. After eight months of inquiries to find a rental toilet, the Secret Service revealed that in September 2017, it paid a monthly rent of $3,000 to a neighbor near the Lee Bangka couple’s home and rented the toilet. As a result, the WP reported that 144,000 dollars of blood tax was wasted only on toilet rental expenses until September this year.

The Ivanka couple completely denied the report. White House spokesman Jude Deer said, “The Banca couple have never restricted the use of toilets by bodyguards. Rather, they are greatly grateful for the security provided by the Secret Service.”

However, WP quoted anonymous officials and refuted that “The Ivanka couple’s journey has actually taken place.” The Secret Service side avoided responding to the suspicion, saying, “We cannot disclose the means, methods and resources used to carry out the protective mission.”
