The missing persons were identified as the captain Kim Mo (67), the engine manager Oh Mo (68), and the deckman Kim Mo (55).

According to the Tongyeong Maritime Police Station, a total of 10 people, including 9 Korean sailors and 1 Indonesian sailor, boarded the ship that sank on that day. Among them, a total of seven were rescued, including sailor Kim Mo (40) and Indonesian nationality D (31). They are all being treated at a nearby hospital. The coast guard said that all rescuers were in good health without any harm.

The search for the remaining three crew members is ongoing. The accident ship is now completely submerged into the sea. The Coast Guard is searching for the missing person by mobilizing 24 patrol boats (20 naval vessels, 4 naval vessels) and 2 aircraft to reach 5 km (3 nautical miles) around the submerged ship, and the southern Geoje and Jangseungpo police box and army units are also located in the southern Geoje coastal area. The Coast Guard said, “Currently, a storm warning is in effect at the site of the accident, with a wave height of 3.0 to 4.0 m and a wind direction of 17 to 20 m per second, which is in a bad state, but we are doing our best to search.” He then explained that the accident site is not far from the residential area, so the flares cannot be used due to the risk of fire.

In this regard, Minister of Public Administration and Security Jeon Jeon Hae-cheol urged, “We will do our utmost to search and rescue people and ensure the safety of rescuers by mobilizing all the administrative powers of the sea, the Navy, Busan, Yeongdo-gu, Gyeongnam, and Geoje.” The former minister instructed him to quickly grasp the crew list, inform his family, and do his best to support such as site visits.
