Director Kitamura also held private talks with Assistant Sullivan. At this meeting, the two agreed to cooperate closely on the summit between Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga and President Joe Biden, who will be held in Washington on the 16th.

The two also agreed to promote cooperation on security issues in the framework of the’quad’, a consultative body in four countries including the United States, Japan, Australia, and India.

At the same time, they exchanged opinions on regional situations in China and North Korea, strengthening US-Japan alliances, and measures to realize the’free and open Indo-Pacific’ initiative.
