【Youth Daily】 The government announced on the 23rd that it will expand the application of employment insurance to some special type workers (special notices) and platform workers in the second half of next year.
On this day, Deputy Prime Minister Hong held a meeting of the Central Central Countermeasure Headquarters for the Emergency Economy and the Ministers’ Meeting for the New Deal in Korea and said, “The nationwide employment insurance roadmap announced today will increase employment insurance targets by about 7.33 million by 2025 (compared to 2019), “It will be a fundamental measure to convert to an income-based national employment insurance system.”
He added, “We will settle the employment insurance for artists that started this month, and the special high school/platform industry will be applied to 14 occupations covered by industrial accident insurance in the second half of next year.”
Among the special high school and platform industries, occupations covered by workers’ compensation insurance are insurance planners, study paper teachers, and delivery technicians.
In the first half of 2022, the government plans to expand the application of employment insurance to platform workers that can easily identify business owners, and other special high-tech and platform industries in the second half of the same year.
Among the wage workers, about 3.78 million people, estimated to be non-subscribers, decided to shorten the period of submitting income data for employers and to expand their membership through the sharing of information between the National Tax Service and Labor Welfare Corporation.
Membership criteria are also changed. By 2023, the standard for enrollment of wage workers will be changed from working hours (60 hours or more per month) to income, and by 2025, all jobs with a certain income or more can subscribe to employment insurance.
The government plans to announce the details of the roadmap through a joint briefing of relevant ministries in the afternoon.
