The first case of obtaining an autonomous driving license and driving with only the lidar sensor-Start-up story platform’Platum’

Autonomous driving startup Viewrun Technology acquired a temporary license for autonomous driving using only a lidar sensor and succeeded in 100% autonomous driving without driver intervention between Seoul and Busan. Viewrun Technology is the first to acquire an autonomous driving license with only the lidar sensor.

Buron Technology is equipped with one lidar sensor capable of detecting 360 degrees and safely autonomously drives the Gyeongbu Expressway from Seoul to Busan. The top speed was 100 km/h and the autonomous driving distance was 414 km. For safety, the driver who was accompanied by the driver never held the steering wheel for 5 hours.

Unlike most autonomous driving using various sensors such as lidar, camera, radar, and GPS at the same time, Viewrun Technology implemented stable autonomous driving using only one lidar sensor. In particular, it has proven the safety of autonomous driving technologies such as maintaining lanes, maintaining gaps between cars, changing automatic lanes, and avoiding collisions in sudden deceleration situations by real driving on the Gyeongbu Expressway.

Buron Technology is increasing the use of LiDAR in various industries as LiDAR is miniaturized and inexpensive. In particular, the need for LiDAR solutions suitable for autonomous driving is increasing rapidly. Explained that the Yong Lida recognition solution was introduced.

Kim Jae-kwang, CEO of View Run Technology, said, “A number of companies at home and abroad are watching with interest the success of View Run Technology’s Seoul-Busan lidar autonomous driving.” We will further enhance it.”

Buron Technology is a technology startup founded by engineers from KAIST, and immediately after its founding, it has proven its growth potential by attracting investment from Naver D2SF and Bon Angels. Based on self-developed cognitive algorithms, it has succeeded in commercializing the unrivaled autonomous driving lidar recognition solution View.one and IoT solution View. Two, and is continuing a steady growth trend by actively collaborating with domestic and foreign autonomous driving companies.
